WordFUL Wednesday

This post is a week late...

Last Wednesday Talia finally got her much anticipated "big-girl bed" delivered to our house. While it was so exciting for her, I couldn't help but get teary eyed as she crawled into her new bed that first night. What happened to my girl? Suddenly she is this big kid who sleeps in a big bed! I feel that these last three years have gone by in a flash and that she is growing too fast. This new bed symbolized something to me, a new season in her life. As I have been nursing Liliana in the middle of the night I have been reading through all of the journals I kept of Talia's first year.....her year of firsts. First smile, coo, laugh, giggle, roll over, crawling, words, etc. I remember nursing her in the middle of the night wondering who she would be, what her personality would be like. It has been such a blessing discovering
who God has created her to be....

she loves to sing spontaneously (especially when she prays),
she is a curious gal who is constantly asking questions~Why, Why, why?,
she loves to read and often makes up her own stories,
she is a people person who loves to smile
she is interested in other countries and asks to visit new places
she has a heart for God already and loves to learn and talk about Jesus
she is imaginative and creative
she can repeat almost anything I say instantly & remembers it

She has brought so much joy and wonder to my life I can't even put it all into words. Even though she is way past that year of "firsts", I look forward with anticipation to this next year that will be filled with a lot more firsts.

I love you Tal gal!

Tal Quotes

Here's some quotes that have made me chuckle the last couple of days...
Tal: "Mom, I was talking to myself!"
Me: "You were?"
Tal: "Oh...I love talking to myself!"

Tal: "Snakes are lonely animals Mom."
Me: "Why do you think snakes are lonely animals?"
Tal: "Because they are so snakey!"

Resonate

"Lord, I pray that these verses would resonate with me today.
May they be on my mind as I remember
your faithfulness and great love for me."

~Psalm 25:1-7~
"1 To you, O Lord, I lift my soul;
2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one whose hope is in you
will ever be put to shame,
but they will be put to shame
who are treacherours without excuse.
4 Show me your ways, O Lord,
teach me your paths;
5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you are good, O Lord."

~Psalm 37:5-6~
"5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness
shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun."

~Psalm 40: 1-5~
"1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is the man
who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
5 Many, O Lord my God
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare."

I.....

I am: growing as a follower of Jesus (day by day in grace!)
I think: too much about what others think of me
I know: and believe the Bible is Truth
I want: to be content & get a new camera
I have: been realizing how blessed I am with all that God has given me
I wish: that my house was painted
I hate: my sin & when people talk on their cell phones while driving
I miss: sleep & my old clothes
I fear: something happening to my husband or my children
I feel: tired but joyful
I hear: the dryer and Talia singing “Jingle bells” in her room (naptime)
I smell: Liliana (she’s sleeping on my chest in the Bjorn)
I crave: a clean house & frozen yogurt from Disneyland
I search: for an understanding of who I am in Christ
I wonder: what plans God has for my children & what they will be like as they grow
I regret: not paying down more college loan debt before having children
I love: God, my family, my friends, & my church
I ache: for my family & friends that don’t know Christ
I care: about the friends & education my children will have
I always: can stay up late talking to my girl friends
I am not: very good at confronting people
I believe: in Jesus Christ, that He died & rose again.
I dance: with Talia & sometimes with Kyle (even if he doesn’t move his feet)
I sing: with & to my girls…they don’t mind my voice
I cry: very easily!
I don't always: trust God (I’m working on it)
I fight: my insecurities
I write: down how God has been faithful to me so that I don't forget
I never: want to forget what the Lord saved me from & that He has a purpose for me
I listen: to a baby sleeping
I need: to be better at emailing, phone calling and keeping in touch with friends
I am happy: that I get to stay at home with my daughters

I tag Kyle

Wordless Wednesday~K$

In a fog

Dear Sleep,

I miss you!
I know we will meet again but I miss our long nights together.
The coziness of a warm bed, more than a four hour stretch, and the peacefulness of a quiet house. While this absence is well worth it, I am day dreaming about unbroken times together again.
See you soon....

Longingly,
the mommy of a newborn

One month in....

1st Daddy smile
Smiling at Mommy & big sister
(*Not the best pictures....furthering my desire for a new and improved camera.)

We are now a month into being a family of four and while we are sleepy there is much joy at our house! Between the stinky diapers and feedings we have been seeing some pretty cute smiles (from both girls) and some coo's and ah's from Miss Liliana. We will have to wait until Thursday for the one month check up but I am sure that Liliana is gaining weight successfully as she is already in size one diapers and quickly growing out of newborn onesies. Talia is still in love with her sister and shows her love by helping to change diapers, hugging, kissing, reading to her sister and trying to play with her. Lookin' forward to what comes next!
